See my post about getting rear-ended in a PROBE. The woman actually looked at the car and said "it doesn't look too bad, we don't need to call the police, do we?" $8800 later.... It honestly looked like a a $1-2k hit. As with anything built in the non-steel-street-tank era, there is ALWAYS more. Not saying he is understating the damage to the car, just saying it adds up faster than hell, especially if insurance is footing the bill and think they can write-off the car.
